An electromagnetic relay for use as a vehicle dynamo voltage regulator has a trough-shaped magnetic frame 11 forming part of the relay housing with the coil supporting core 18 mounted on one edge 15 of the trough 13 and the armature 20 supported at the opposite end 16 of the trough. The armature 20 may be flat as shown or L-shaped (Fig. 4, not shown), and the part of the core 18 on which the coil 17 is mounted may be square or round in section. A shunt screw 28 in a threaded hole 27 in the frame 11 bears upon the core end to allow adjustment of the normal air gap 26. Compensation for the effects of temperature change is provided by making the shunt 28 of temperature responsive magnetic material and the hinge spring 19 of the armature as a temperature responsive bimetal. A movable contact 22 on an arm 21 of the armature 20 moves between fixed contacts of a contact stack 29.</p> |
