A motor vehicle steering system (1; 1A) includes a steered shaft (6; 106) inserted through a tubular housing (5) and a screw shaft (32) provided on the intermediate portion (63; 163) of the steered shaft (6; 106). A ball nut (33) threadably engaged on the screw shaft (32) via balls (34) is driven to rotate by electric motors (21, 22) . A first bushing (71; 171) and a second bushing (72; 172) held by the housing (5) support the first end portion (61; 161) and the second end portion (62; 162) of the steered shaft (6; 106) slidably in the axial direction (X1, X2), respectively. The central axis (C3; C30) of the intermediate portion (63; 163) of the steered shaft (6; 106) is offset from the central axis (C1; C10) of the first end portion (61; 161) and the central axis (C2; C20) of the second end portion (62; 162) of the steered shaft (6; 106). The central axis (C4) of the ball nut (33) and the central axis (C3; C30) of the intermediate portion (63; 163) of the steered shaft (6; 106) match each other. |
