Polysulfide compounds (I) are new. A mixture of 10 g (I) and 100 ml water, exhibits a pH of greater than 2, preferably 3.4-6.2 after 30 minutes of reflux at atmospheric pressure and subsequent cooling to 25[deg] C within 60 minutes. Polysulfide compounds of formula (I) are new. Independent claims are also included for: (1) preparing (I); (2) a rubber mixture comprising at least one rubber, at least one filler, and (I); (3) preparing vulcanizates, comprising vulcanizing the rubber mixture at a melt temperature of 100-200[deg] C, preferably 130-180?C; (4) vulcanizates, preferably tires and tire components, obtainable by vulcanizing the rubber mixture; and (5) a mixture comprising at least one sulfur-containing alkoxysilane, preferably bis(triethoxysilylpropyl)tetrasulfane, bis(triethoxysilylpropyl)disulfane, 3-(triethoxysilyl)-1-propanethiol, polyether-functionalized mercaptosilane or thioester-functionalized alkoxysilane, and (I). |
