A dust collecting apparatus of a vacuum cleaner is provided. The dust collecting apparatus includes a centrifugal separating portion, a dust receptacle to collect dust which is separated by the centrifugal separating portion and, a filter portion having a filter unit separating dust from an air current discharging from the centrifugal separating portion, wherein the filter portion also includes a dust removing unit to detach the filter dust caught in the filter unit from the filter unit, and a dust discharge member to forcibly move the filter dust to the upstream of the centrifugal separating portion.
