PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a one-pack type water-based coating composition excellent in coating material stability, finish properties, giving a coated film with excellent hardness, gloss, water resistance, corrosion resistance and weatherability. SOLUTION: This one-pack type water-based coating composition comprises (A) a water-based fatty acid-modified acrylic resin obtained by finely dispersing a monomer mixture (I) including a fatty acid-modified polymerizable unsaturated monomer (a1) and another polymerizable unsaturated monomer (a2) in an aqueous medium so that the mean particle diameter becomes 500 nm or smaller, and polymerizing the obtained monomer emulsion; (B) a water-based fatty acid-modified epoxy resin containing a fatty acid (b1) and an epoxy resin (b2) having 200 or more weight-average molecular weight as constituent units; and (C) 0.01-15 pts.mass of a metallic drier in terms of total metal amount (in terms of mass) and 1-20 pts.mass of a phosphite compound, both to 100 pts.mass total solid content of the rein (A) and the resin (B).
