An inspection window in a cryogenic vessel of Dewar type comprises a transparent plate 12 secured to an annular copper washer 11 by an epoxy resin 14, the washer being compressed against a seat 10 by a ring nut 13. As illustrated the cryogenic vessel has inner and outer walls 2 and 4 each provided with a window, the washer of the outer window including brass rings 15 and 16 which are soldered to the remainder of the washer. A liquid sealing compound may be used between the washers and their seats. The outer window is mounted in a larger opening than the inner window to facilitate removal of the windows. Preferred resins and sealing compounds are disclosed.</p> |
