The machine has a material hopper receiving bulk material, and a material conveying system (5) conveying the bulk material. The material conveying system comprises conveying screws (6, 7) in an area of the hopper, and a gap extends directly below the conveying screws. A cross section of the gap varies along a conveying direction of the conveying screws, where the gap is variably adjustable in size during operation of the construction machine. A pitch of the conveying screws varies along the conveying direction.
