A nut 4 and screw 1 combination and a clamp 10 are provided. The nut and screw combination comprises a nut having and internal screw thread 5 and a screw having a short section of complementary thread 6 at its distal end 8, a main section of complementary thread 2 along its body and an unthreaded section 10 of shaft separating the short thread and the main thread. The short section of thread is provided for retention of the nut. The main section of thread enables the nut to be tightened onto a seat. The unthreaded shaft section enables the nut to move freely along this section of shaft. The clamp comprises a pair of clamp arms 12, 14 hinged together at one end 18, 20 and connectable together at the other end by means of the nut and screw combination. The screw may include a cross bar for engaging a clevis 24 in one of the arms 12, 14. |
