1,178,847. Additives for PVC. CHEMISCHE WERKE MUNCHEN OTTO BARLOCHER G.m.b.H. 6 March, 1967 [15 March, 1966], No. 10445/67. Heading C3P. Granular products are obtained from pulverulent plastics additives by mixing with a granulating agent consisting of an organic compound having a melting point above 40‹ C. which is solid and non-adhesive at room temperature and has a molecular weight above 150, heating the mixture to melt the granulating agent while stirring vigorously, then cooling while under reduced stirring. Preferably the application is to PVC additives such as stabilizers, fillers, dyes, anti-static agents and fire retarding agents and as granulating agents are used processing lubricants. In examples the following materials are mixed, the heat of stirring being sufficient to melt the granulating agent and then cooled while stirring less vigorously: (1) dibasic lead stearate, neutral lead stearate, chalk coated with calcium stearate and cetyl palmitate; (2) dibasic lead sulphate, dibasic lead stearate, calcium stearate, stearic acid and pentaerythritol distearate.
|
