Characters traced manually on an input pad are identified by comparing the manual trace of a character with a set of predetermined characters which are stored. Each character is identified by the number and detail of passes (A,B) used to trace the character. <??>The electronic method of recognising characters traced manually on an input pad uses a rectangular array of sensors. These are intended to be activated by a finger, or a tracing instrument. In drawing a specific alphanumeric character, a line is drawn through specific elements of the array. The process consists of comparing the manual trace of a character with a set of predetermined characters which are stored. Each character is identified by a specific model representative of the manner in which it is traced out. Relevant features include the number of passes (A,B) used to trace the character, the uni-dimensional or bi-dimensional nature of these passes, and the composition of each bi-dimensional pass in terms of the number of segments and the rectilinear or curved nature of each segment.
|
