<p>The present invention relates to a method of outputting a category list in an electronic device, and more particularly, to an apparatus and a method of displaying a plurality of categories and elements of the categories. The method of displaying the category in the electronic device includes the steps: determining a category selected from among a plurality of categories; and displaying the selected category in a selective region of the first list, displaying remaining categories so that the selective category is overlapped with the remaining categories, and displaying the second list so that the second list is arranged in a direction different from the arrangement direction of the first list from the selective region.
