A fireplace heat exchanger and water boiler of the type utilising direct radiated heat and hot flue gases to extract heat which would normally escape through the flue and exit a chimney. The invention particularly relates to a method of installation of a fireplace heat exchanger and water boiler which minimizes the disruption normally associated with, specifically, the retro-fitting of such an exchanger and water boiler to an existing fireplace. The disclosure teaches a substantially rectangular boiler vessel having a centrally disposed aperture through which hot gases from a primary combustion zone are allowed to pass to a flue. Flow and return water pipes are connected to the water tank within the flue gas aperture and extend substantially the entire length of the flue. <Figure 3> |
