The present invention relates to a device and a method for dynamically saving power consumption of a multi-lane-based Ethernet which increases the energy saving efficiency and minimizes the degradation of network performance in a multi-lane-based Ethernet device. A power saving device in a multi-lane-based Ethernet includes: a plurality of transmission lanes; a multi-lane communication for distributing received communication packets to the transmission lanes, electro-optically converting the packets and transmitting; at least one buffer; a multi-buffer unit for activating or deactivating each of the at least one buffer based on a received buffer control command, storing the received communication packets in an activated buffer and transmitting to the multi-lane communication unit; and a control unit for monitoring the multi-buffer unit, comparing the size of memory which is being used in the multi-buffer unit with a predetermined threshold value and generating a buffer control command to activate or deactivate the at least one buffer of the multi-buffer unit.
