A method of displaying video comprises: extracting one or more portions of a video stream; improving the quality of the extracted portions; and, displaying the portions. The improved portions may be displayed within the original frame, i.e. a frame-within-frame display. The step of improving the portion or sub-region may comprise increasing its resolution. The portions to be improved may be user-selected, for example by hovering a pointer, or may be automatically selected. Automatic selection may take the form of selecting regions-of-interest where faces or vehicle number plates are present. Independent claims are also included for improving the quality of a portion of an image by minimising a spare code using low- and high-resolution dictionaries. |
