The invention provides a filter assembly (10;100;300;400) for use in a cleaning appliance having a first filter portion (14) and a deformable rim (12;112;312;412), the first filter portion being surrounded by the deformable rim. The first filter portion (14) consists of a non-woven medium. The filter assembly (10;100;300;400) further comprises a second filter portion (16) located downstream of the first filter portion (14). The first filter portion (14) and the second filter portion (16) are held directly adjacent one another by means of the deformable rim (12;112;312;412). The filter assembly (10;100;300;400) further comprises a third filter portion (18) located upstream of the first filter portion (14) and consisting of a mesh material. The first filter portion (14) and the third filter portion (18) are held directly adjacent one another by means of the deformable rim. The filter assembly (10;100;300;400) has a tab (28) located on a surface thereof, to facilitate removal of the filter assembly (10;100;300;400) from a filter housing or a vacuum cleaner. |
