According to the present invention, a method for tracking an object in real time comprises the following steps. A PTZ camera captures an object and transmits the image to an object tracking module. A communication unit of the object tracking module receives the image captured and transmitted by the PTZ camera. A candidate object selection unit of the object tracking module selects a candidate group from the image for tracking. An object determination unit of the object tracking module determines a target object among the candidate group selected from the candidate object selection unit. A control unit of the object tracking module controls the PTZ camera to track the determined target object. And a kernel-based tracking tracks the object for the image acquired by the control unit which controls the PTZ camera. with the method, an object can be stably tracked.
