The method involves defining a set of items (18) on a rough surface (14), where the items form nodes of a grid on the rough surface. A slope is determined between two points of the rough surface. An irregularity of the rough surface is determined according to the determined slope, where the rough surface is regarded as irregular when the irregularity of the rough surface is greater than a threshold value. The grid is provided with a set of meshes defined by edges (50) connecting the items.
