A wireless device (150) comprising a plurality of chips (162,165) may be operable to wirelessly communicate information between a plurality of chips via selectable directional antennas (164A,164B). Each of the chips may comprise one or more transmitters and receivers (152), and one or more integrated directional antennas (164A,164B) communicatively coupled to the transmitters and/or receivers (152). The directional antennas (164A) may include patch or dipole antennas that may be configured to transmit signals in the direction of another chip (165) intended to receive the transmitted signals. The patch or dipole antennas may (164A) be configured to transmit signals at a frequency matching a configured frequency of a directional antenna (164B) integrated on another of the plurality of chips (165) intended to receive the transmitted signals. The inter-chip communication may include baseband signals, radio frequency signals, and/or intermediate frequency signals. The plurality of chips (162,165) may be integrated on a single package (167) or on a plurality of packages. |
