AUTHENTICATION METHOD OF CONTENTS-PROTECTED TITLE AND DEVICE ADOPTING THE METHOD

Disclosed are an authentication method for a medium requiring authentication like a DVD title and a device applying the same. The authentication method includes steps of: connecting a playing device to play content stored in a medium to an optical disc drive (ODD) driving the medium using an interface device; allocating an authentication area for storing query data for content authentication and result data thereof in a memory which is formed in the ODD; performing an authentication operation required for playing the content by exchanging data between the playing device and the ODD through the allocation area to store the data.
