The cell has an electrical isolating insulation layer (20) adhering at outer side of a battery cell housing (18). The insulation layer comprises first electrical insulating layer (22) and second electrical insulating layer (24) that is arranged remote from the first layer. The second layer comprises space aligned fibers (26) and a film (28) i.e. fiber reinforced film, arranged in different directions. The insulation layer comprises a matrix, to which the fibers are embedded. The matrix directly adheres to the battery cell housing.
