PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable information device that allows a user to easily perform with one hand operation to select a desired item from a plurality of displayed items and display information related to the selected item.SOLUTION: A portable information device 2 including a touch panel 3 on the front face of a housing 2 includes: contact position detection means for detecting contact positions where a user touches the touch panel 3 on both sides in a longitudinal direction of the touch panel 3; gripping position specification means for specifying, from the contact positions, gripping positions where the user touches the touch panel 3 with any of an index finger, a middle finger, a ring finger, and a little finger of a hand gripping the housing 2, range specification means for specifying a range on the touch panel 3 including all the gripping positions in the longitudinal direction; and item selection means for making any of the items displayed in the specified range in a selected state, and changing the items in the selected state in order in accordance with operation by a thumb of the hand of the user gripping the housing 2 or a hand not gripping the housing 2. |
