PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery charge control method and system for controlling charge of a battery which supplies power source to activate a hybrid vehicle according to a traveling state.SOLUTION: A battery charge control method for controlling charge of a battery which supplies power source to activate a hybrid vehicle according to a traveling state includes the steps of calculating an average vehicle speed for a set time and updating the average vehicle speed at an update period shorter than the set time, changing an SOC (State Of Charge) charge band which is a reference to whether or not to charge the battery on the basis of the average vehicle speed, and determining whether or not to charge the battery according to the traveling state on the basis of the SOC charge band.
