摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an MR damper which has an efficient and proper structure using an MR fluid composite.SOLUTION: An MR damper principally comprises a displacement conversion mechanism which converts an axial direction displacement into a rotation direction displacement and a brake mechanism 20 driven by the displacement conversion mechanism. The brake mechanism includes: a rotating disk 22 which is caused to rotate by the displacement conversion mechanism; a stationary disk 24 stacked in a coaxial state for the rotating disk and in such a state that the rotating disk can relatively rotate; an MR fluid composite 25 which is held between the rotating disk and the stationary disk and generates a shear force by means of a relative rotation generated between both disks; and a coil 26 which applies a variable magnetic field for the MR fluid composite and controls the shear force. Preferably, such a ball screw mechanism that the displacement conversion mechanism is converted to the rotation direction displacement by enlarging the axial direction displacement is provided.
