PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat pump system for a vehicle and a method of controlling the same.SOLUTION: A heat pump system 100 for a vehicle includes: cooling means 110 that supplies and circulates cooling water to a motor 111 and an electrical component 112 through a cooling line C.L; and air conditioning means 150 connected through a refrigerant line R.L to control air conditioning within a vehicle cabin. The cooling means 110 includes a radiator 115, a cooling fan 117 and a water pump 113. The cooling means 110 further includes: a water-cooled capacitor 130 connected to the cooling line C.L to change a temperature of the cooling water using a waste heat source that has occurred in the motor 111 and the electrical component 112 in accordance with each mode of the vehicle and that is connected to the refrigerant line R.L to enable a flowing-in refrigerant to exchange heat with the cooling water at the inner side thereof; and an air-cooled capacitor 131 connected in series to the water-cooled capacitor 130 through the refrigerant line R.L and is disposed before the radiator 115.
