An armature of a rotating electrical machine capable of improving the efficiency of a rotating electrical machine by improving the dissipation performance of an edge-wise coil. The armature comprises: a core having a yoke part and teeth part projecting from the yoke part; an edge-wise coil which is configured by winding a rectangular wire having a square-shaped conducting cross-section edge-wise, and is inserted into the teeth part via an insulating member; and a heat transmission member filled in a gap between the teeth part and the edge-wise coil. The gaps formed at two portions between the teeth part and the longitudinal side of the edge-wise coil are different from each other.
