PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering device which achieves a structure for reducing cost while securing rigidity of a steering column, and provide a method of manufacturing the same.SOLUTION: Stopper parts 24a, 24a are formed by forming cuts in a circumferential direction at a plurality of circumferential portions of a rear end part of a steering column 6b, and bending axially adjacent parts to the cuts. At the same time, fitting parts 25a are formed by pressing a plurality of circumferential portions of an outer circumferential surface of the steering column 6b inward in a radial direction. Parts on a same circumference of a center part in an axial direction out of an outer ring 20 of a ball bearing 19 are internally fitted and fixed to inner circumference surfaces of the respective fitting parts 25a, and also caulking parts 26, 26 are formed by plastically deforming a rear end edge of the steering column 6b inward in the radial direction. |
