PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide "a navigation device, a method for specifying a traffic information providing area, and a data structure of a map database" which can simply specify a rectangular traffic information providing area including all traffic fault occurrence sections without imposing a large calculation burden.SOLUTION: A rectangular area information representing a minimum rectangular area including all road shapes specified by one or more road shape element points included in one infrastructure link section is stored for each infrastructure link to configure map data, thereby enabling a rectangular traffic information providing area including all traffic fault occurrence sections to be simply specified by the rectangular area information read from the map data storage part 1 based on the infrastructure link shown by the road traffic information without performing a series of processing such as conversion from the infrastructure link shown by the received road traffic information to a road link, conversion from the road link to the road shape element points, and calculation of the rectangular area from the road shape element points. |
