PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video display system with which a user can view a video and voice with various means.SOLUTION: The video display system includes a video display device and a portable video display device, which are mutually communication-connected. The video display device: generates self-device video data and self-device voice data which become display and reproduction objects by the video display device; displays the generated self-device video data; reproduces the generated self-device voice data; encodes the generated self-device video data and the self-device voice data in a data type that can be processed in the portable video display device to generate other device video data and other device voice data; and transmits them to the portable video display device. The portable video display device: receives the transmitted other device video data and the other device voice data; decodes and displays the other device video data; and decodes and reproduces the other device voice data.
