SULFUR-VULCANIZED CONDUCTIVE RUBBER BLEND FREE OF CARBON BLACK

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sulfur-vulcanized conductive rubber blend free of carbon black prepared by mechanical blending at a high temperature, which is a practical and eco-friendly method.SOLUTION: A sulfur-vulcanized conductive rubber blend free of carbon black of a solid (butadiene-acrylonitrile) copolymer and a solid polyaniline doped with sulfonic acid is produced by mechanical blending at a high temperature using an internal mixing device and two-roll open mill device. Addition of a sulfur vulcanization system has no influence on electrical characteristics of the vulcanized blend. All of the vulcanized blends prepared by the method has a useful conductivity up to the order of 10S/cm and a good tensile strength up to 18.0 Mpa and can be colored by adding a white colorant. The conductive rubber blend is useful for production of any antistatic products, electrostatic discharge or dissipative products and electromagnetic or radio frequency interferences shielding products.
