METHOD, APPARATUS AND SYSTEM FOR CONTROLLING SWIRL OF EXHAUST IN GAS TURBINE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide shape memory devices which can cope with change in swirl of gas turbine exhaust gases at off-design conditions.SOLUTION: Change in swirl of gas turbine exhaust gases at off-design conditions adversely impacts the gas turbine performance. Shape memory devices 230 are incorporated into struts of an exhaust diffuser of a gas turbine. The shape memory devices 230 change shape in accordance with heat, which can be applied through memory device heaters 240. By controlling the memory device heaters 240, the heat applied to the shape memory devices 230 can be controlled. The shapes of the struts can be altered through altering the shapes of the memory devices 230 in consideration of load conditions to increase the efficiency.
