Headings B3A, B3E and B3Q. A cage for a roller bearing is made from a thin walled cylinder having shoulders 2 formed therein. Pockets 4 for accommodating the rollers are punched in the cylinder which is profiled on a mandrel (6), (7) to form offset bar portions 5. The mandrel is split in a plane (8) normal to its axis (Fig. 4, not shown) and the forming step may be performed before punching the pockets. Rings 10 are inserted into the cylinder so as to abut the shoulders 2 and flanges 12 are formed by press rams 11 (13) (Fig. 6, not shown). |
