PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process of manufacturing a carbon material for an air electrode of an air cell having more reaction starting points of an oxygen reduction reaction than that of the conventional carbon material that has been used for an air electrode of an air cell, and to provide the carbon material for an air cell of an air cell and an air cell containing the carbon material.SOLUTION: The process of manufacturing a carbon material used for an air electrode of an air cell includes an activation step in which a carbon raw material is alkali-treated and at least oxygen reduction activity at a surface of the carbon raw material is activated, and an ultrasonic treatment step in which the carbon raw material after the activation step is ultrasonic-treated and the carbon material for an air electrode of an air cell is manufactured.
