PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique capable of preventing a seal member from being peeled from an electrolyte membrane.SOLUTION: A fuel cell comprises: a first catalyst layer which includes a first carrier supporting a catalyst and a first electrolyte resin; an electrolyte membrane in which at least a part of a peripheral part on one surface thereof is arranged to be exposed outside of a peripheral part of the first catalyst layer; a second catalyst layer which is disposed on the other surface of the electrolyte membrane and includes a second carrier supporting a catalyst and a second electrolyte resin; a first gas diffusion layer which is connected with the first catalyst layer; a second gas diffusion layer which is connected with the second catalyst layer; a junction layer which is disposed on the exposed part of the electrolyte membrane and includes a third carrier and a third electrolyte resin; and a seal member which is integrally connected with the junction layer at the exposed part of the electrolyte membrane by being impregnated into the junction layer due to a heat treatment, and which is held between a first separator and a second separator. Intensity of the junction layer is higher than that of the first catalyst layer. |
