Disclosed is a horizontal type diesel engine, comprising a cylinder and two pistons, wherein, during operation, the left cylinder is operated in a distance of 7 cm in advance so that the two cylinders are compressed to ideal operating pressures at the same time, and a mixing gas is combusted and exploded after a volume of the mixing gas is pushed to the left by 7 cm instantaneously; the volume is reduced by 17 cm after the mixing gas is combusted and exploded, and the explosive strength is enhanced so that the right cylinder only needs to supply 1/2 of original fuel to achieve the effect of the original one cylinder; and the top face of the piston is of semi-circular shape. The engine is able to save energy by 25-30%.
