PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device capable of suppressing degradation in display quality.SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device includes a first substrate AR, a second substrate CT, and a liquid crystal layer LQ containing liquid crystal molecules LM held between the first substrate AR and the second substrate CT. The first substrate AR includes: a gate wiring line G extending in a first direction X; a source wiring line S extending in a second direction Y; a pixel electrode PE having a contact part PC disposed at least on one side of the gate wiring line G, a sub pixel electrode PB disposed on both sides of the gate wiring line G and extending in the first direction X, and a main pixel electrode PA extending in the second direction Y from the contact part PC or from the sub pixel electrode PB; and a switching element SW for switching connection between the source wiring line S and the pixel electrode PE. The second substrate CT includes a common electrode CE which includes: main common electrodes CA extending on both sides of the main pixel electrode PA and substantially parallel to the main pixel electrode PA; and sub common electrodes PB extending between the main common electrodes CA, at a position between the pixel electrodes PE arranged in the second direction Y and at a position opposing to the gate wiring line G. |
