The system controls conditional allocation of resources from a resource pool (220) to a subordinate thread (214) of a data processing environment (200) based on usage of the resources from the pool depending on a resource utilization threshold value during execution of the subordinate thread and a primary thread (212). The resources allocated to the primary thread of the environment are monitored, where the primary thread exhibits a higher priority than the subordinate thread.
