The window lifter (3) has a fastening unit (7) for fixing lifter to a side wall element (9) of a rear side wall (1) of vehicle. An adjusting element (15) is slidably accommodated in a guide portion (13) in axial direction. The guide portion is engaged with a fixing unit (21) so the adjusting element is in a first functional position of a fixing unit in which the adjusting element is not fixed in the guide portion and in a second functional position of the fixing unit in which the adjusting element is fixed in the guide element. An independent claim is included for a rear side wall of motor vehicle.
