摘要 The present invention relates to an engine control apparatus and method for a vehicle engine having a cylinder de-activation (CDA) function which can accurately measure an intake air amount, regardless of a fluctuation in the engine having the CDA function. The engine control apparatus includes a pressure sensor for measuring air pressure in an intake manifold; an opening rate detection unit for an opening rate of a throttle valve adjusting the air amount fed to the intake manifold; an operation unit for calculating a first intake air amount using the air pressure measured by the pressure sensor, and calculating a second intake air amount using the opening rate of the throttle valve measured by the opening rate detection unit, engine revolutions, and pressure at front and rear ends of the throttle valve; a CDA unit for stopping any one of a plurality of combustion chambers; and a control unit for controlling operation of the CDA unit. The control unit controls the engine using the first intake air amount calculated by the pressure sensor as the intake air amount fed to the engine if the CDA unit is stopped, and controls the engine using the second intake air amount calculated by the opening rate of the throttle valve as the intake air amount if the CDA unit operates.
