To improve the pigmentation of egg yolks and of poultry, the poultry are fed with a feed which includes hydrolysed paprika or an extract or dispersion of hydrolysed paprika, preferably in amounts of 0.05-1.0% by weight. The hydrolysed paprika may be prepared by subjecting paprika to conventional alkaline saponification. Additional pigments, for example yellow carotinoids such as the ethyl ester of b -apo-81-carotinic acid, may also be provided. |
