The method involves determining a biometric characteristic such as a body size, a body geometry or body proportion, an occupant of a vehicle. A weight of the occupant is determined by pressure sensors in a seat. The biometric characteristic is determined through an external camera of the vehicle. A restraint system of the vehicle is adjusted according to the biometric characteristic by fitting a seat adjuster in the event of a frontal crash of the vehicle. An independent claim is also included for an apparatus for adjusting a restraint system of a vehicle.
