The generator (10) has a combustion chamber (14) provided with a pyrotechnic propellant charge unit for generating hot gas. A mixing chamber (16) is provided with outflow openings (20) and arranged adjacent to the combustion chamber. A liquid container (28) is provided in the mixing chamber. A release spring (30) is arranged in the mixing chamber, where the release spring is biased opposite to the combustion chamber and the hot gas is flown in the combustion chamber. The combustion chamber is faced toward an end (32) of the release spring that is arranged opposite to the liquid container. The liquid container is made of plastic, polyethylene, polypropylene, polyethylene terephthalate and glasses.
