The invention provides compositions and methods involving the use of endothelial progenitor cells (EPC) to regenerate and/or reestablish a functioning microvasculature in damaged or ischemic organs and tissue. The invention also provides compositions and methods using EPC for replacing lost function in organ and tissue that is damaged, ischemic, or scarred. Such compositions and methods may find utility in, for instance, organs or tissues that have been damaged due to lack of vasculature. |
