A composition for external skin application which comprises dehydroabietic acid as an active ingredient for skin whitening of the present invention can be usefully applied as a composition for external skin application with a purpose of skin whitening since effects of tyrosinase activity reduction and melanin generation reduction are excellent. The composition for external skin application contains 0.000025-0.025 wt% of the dehydroabietic acid compared to a total weight of the composition.
