Abstract A comminution unit for an organic waste treatment system is described. The comminution unit includes a comminution means for comminuting organic waste, a motor for driving the comminution means, a funnel assembly for receiving the organic waste and directing 5 said organic waste to the comminution means, and a waste outlet via which comminuted organic waste is transported away from the comminution unit.
