1,123,274. Identification documents. VIRGINIA LAMINATING CO. 27 April, 1966, No. 18491/66. Heading B6A. An identification document comprises layers of translucent material in which is enclosed a strip 21 of fluorescent material on which is inscribed code numbers in ultraviolet screening material, the code numbers normally being invisible but being rendered visible as shown at 12, Fig. 2, when the document is exposed to ultraviolet light. As an alternative, the strip 21 may be of ultraviolet screening material, the code numbers being inscribed thereon in fluorescent material. As shown, the document comprises a central sheet 15, which may be opaque or transparent, coated with transparent polythene material 16, on the upper surface of which the strip 21 and a photograph 17 with information such as the name and address of the person concerned may be placed. This is enclosed in polythene layers 20 with outer layers 22 of scratch resistant material such as polyethyleneterephthalate. If the sheet 15 is transparent, it may have code numbers in a strip 18 similar to strip 21 inserted between the photograph 17 and the sheet 15 so that code numbers would be visible on the underside of the document when that side is exposed to ultraviolet light. The perimeter of the document may have the code numbers in ultraviolet screening material, the numbers being visible if the document is viewed under ultraviolet light against a separate background of fluorescent material. |
