PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a composition to reduce growth of microbial colonies including infections, and further provide a therapeutic composition, a method for treatment of infections, and a method for identifying other such compositions.SOLUTION: There is provided a chimera Tail Associated Muralytic Enzyme (TAME) polypeptide comprising muralytic domain (MD) and foreign cell binding domain (CBD) which binds to a target bacterium, the target bacterium showing reduced growth or no growth after brought into contact with the chimera TAME polypeptide. There is provided a method of treating a bacterial infection of a subject in need of the therapy comprising the step of administering a pharmaceutical composition comprising the chimera TAME polypeptide to the subject. |
