PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To show a user benefit that the user can potentially enjoy when the user moves along a predetermined route or searches a route under a predetermined condition.SOLUTION: A route information display method: acquires information on a position of a user through a GPS system and generates position history information including the information on the position of the user in the past (S10); determines a reference mode of movement in which the user moves from an origination point to a terminal point on the basis of route network data by referring thereto (S20 and S30); calculates a reference cost which is a cost for moving in accordance with the reference mode of movement (S40); calculates an alternative cost which is the cost for moving from the origination point to the terminal point in an alternative mode of movement different from the reference mode of movement (S60); and outputs the information obtained from the reference cost and the alternative cost (S90).
