Abstract A trailer hitch shock dampening system enables safer and smoother towing. The system includes a base defining a longitudinal axis and a pivot axis 5 substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. An arm is pivotally connected to the base about the pivot axis, and includes a first end and a second end. A coupling is connected to the first end of the arm, and a dampener is mounted between the base and the second end of the arm.
