PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hybrid steering system capable of simultaneously using a motor drive power steering (MDPS) and an electrically driven hydraulic power steering (EHPS) as a main steering gear, and a control method thereof.SOLUTION: A hybrid steering system includes an MDPS module comprising a first torsion bar 320 connected to a steering wheel shaft, a first torque sensor 340 for measuring the torque of the first torsion bar 320 and an MDPS motor 360 for applying the torque to the steering wheel shaft, an EHPS module comprising a second torsion bar 520 connected to the steering wheel shaft at a rear end of the MDPS module and a hydraulic mechanism for applying steering output through hydraulic pressure depending on a torsion of the second torsion bar 520, and a controller 700 for controlling a torque of the MDPS motor 360 and steering output of the hydraulic mechanism depending on a vehicle speed and a steering angle. |
