The method involves detecting upcoming traffic and/or road conditions, and determining upcoming background noise based on detected upcoming traffic and/or road conditions. A date and time of occurrence of upcoming background noise is calculated from obtained driving condition information of vehicle. An audio signal (2) generated from audio playback device (1) installed in motor vehicle is processed based on determined upcoming background noise and obtained information about driving state of motor vehicle. An independent claim is included for a device for influencing reproduction of audio signals in motor vehicle.
